A New Chapter for the West: The Road to November 28, 2026

As we progress through 2026, our community stands at the threshold of a significant democratic milestone. The upcoming Victorian state election represents a vital opportunity for residents in the West to engage with the future of our state and ensure our voices are heard in the halls of government.

Election Overview:

On Saturday, 28 November 2026, Victoria will hold its state election to determine the 61st Parliament. This pivotal event will see voters decide on:

88 seats in the Legislative Assembly (lower house).

40 seats in the Legislative Council (upper house).

The current political landscape features the Labor government, led by Premier Jacinta Allan, contesting against the Liberal/National Coalition, led by Jess Wilson, and the Greens, led by Ellen Sandell.

Critical Deadlines:

To ensure your participation in this "New Chapter," please keep the following official timeline in mind:

ü  3 November 2026: The Governor of Victoria issues the writ for the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) to hold the election.

ü  10 November 2026 (8:00 pm): The electoral roll closes. This is the final opportunity to register or update your address.

ü  13 November 2026 (Noon): Candidate nominations officially close.

Your Responsibility:
